Luka Modric Respond to Journalist Who Told Him Not to Retire Soon

Luka Modric has responded to an Italian journalist who praised him highly and urged him not to retire, recognizing him as one of the finest players in the game.
The Real Madrid midfielder missed a penalty in the second half during their third group B match in the ongoing 2024 Euros but redeemed himself with a goal for Croatia against Italy last night, a performance the journalist described as top-class:
The Italian journalist to Modric:
“Good evening Luka, I wanted to thank you for everything you’ve shown, not only tonight but throughout your career. Once again, you proved your top-class talent by scoring despite missing a penalty. I just wanted to say this to you, and ask you never to retire because you are one of the finest players I’ve ever commented on. Thank you.”
Modric’s response to the journalist:
“Thank you (in Italian). Thank you very much for this wonderful tribute, from the bottom of my heart, I thank you. I’d also like to keep playing forever. I’ll continue playing; I don’t know for how much longer, but thank you very much for your words. Thank you (again in Italian).”
A point earned against Italy mathematically keeps Croatia’s round of 16 hopes alive.
