Liverpool triumphed over Leicester City last night at the King Power Stadium, thereby building up hope to finish in the top4 this season. While doing so, Liverpool have won their last seven games in the Premiership, mounting pressure on Manchester United and Newcastle United.
Curtis Jones put Liverpool ahead in the first half, scoring twice in the span of three minutes. Alexander Arnold made it 3-0 in the 71st minute with his magnificent free-kick. Since he was moved to a new role, Trent has had at least a goal contribution in every game. Mohamed Salah orchestrated all the goals with his hat trick of assists.
Liverpool with 65 points, sits at the 5th position, spying on Manchester United and Newcastle and looks resilient to take advantage of errors from both clubs.
Alexander Arnold to Sky Sports after the game:
“I think we caught them by surprise and I’ve been able to tuck it away. It was a well-worked goal.”
Asked about Jones ‘stepping up’, he replied: “For sure, for sure. It’s not just been tonight, I think [it’s] since he came into the team again.
“He’s a lad who obviously would have wanted to play more throughout the whole season but he has stepped up when he has got his chance and I think that’s all you can do.
“He has shown his quality on and off the ball. And he has definitely impressed everyone. He has set standards for himself and we need to keep that as a team and himself, he has got a level now that he needs to hit every game.
“Today was an outstanding night for him and helped the team win the game.”
