Liverpool defeated Chelsea in a Premier League match at Anfield to retain their top spot.
First Half:
The first half began with both teams maintaining composure, but Chelsea soon ramped up their attacking efforts with more attempts. In the 28th minute, Curtis Jones was fouled in Chelsea’s box, leading to a penalty, which Mohamed Salah successfully converted. It was a contentious first 45 minutes, with Liverpool holding a narrow lead but struggling to dominate possession, as Chelsea controlled 55% of the ball at Anfield.
Second Half:
Chelsea responded swiftly, with Nicholas Jackson equalizing just three minutes into the second half. However, Chelsea could not maintain their momentum, as Curtis Jones restored Liverpool’s lead by slotting in a soft but sublime goal in the 51st minute.
Liverpool remains top of the table with 21 points, ahead of Manchester City, who are close behind with 20 points. Arsenal’s defeat to Bournemouth yesterday sees them drop to 17 points, sitting in third place.
