Liverpool FC who were the only Premier League club to make additions to their squad in this current transfer window has finally put a smile unto the faces of their fans after announcing the signing of Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili for an undisclosed fee.
According to the club, the 23 year old after medical and clearance will return to Valencia for the remainder of 2024-25 and join Liverpool next season.
“Liverpool have reached an agreement for the transfer of Giorgi Mamardashvili, subject to a work permit and international clearance – with the Valencia goalkeeper set to move to Anfield ahead of the 2025-26 season.”
The Reds have secured a deal for the 23-year-old that will see him stay in Spain for the remainder of the current campaign with Los Che before switching to Merseyside next summer.”
Liverpool’s decision to add a new goalkeeper could be linked to the possibility of losing their second choice goalkeeper this summer and with Allison Becker aging.
The Georgian has tallied 102 appearances for the La Liga side and kept 31 clean sheets in all competitions, starting both of their fixtures so far this season, against Barcelona and Celta Vigo.
In the 2024 Euros, Mamardashvili was impressive with his nation Georgia helping them reach round of 16. His 21 saves during the three group-stage games were the joint-most of any goalkeeper in the tournament’s history.
