Liquid Trees is a biotechnology company based in India, specializing in microalgae technology to reduce carbon footprint and promote sustainability.
On the 10th of August 2024, Liquid Trees certified Ibrahim Yakubu as a Campus Ambassador, Yakubu hailed from Kebbi State, a 300-level student of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the Faculty of Science Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS).
The first liquid tree was installed in Milan, Italy, in 2012. The tree, called “Bosco Verticale,” or “Vertical Forest,” was designed by architect Stefano Boeri.
The Bosco Verticale is a residential building that features two towers that are covered in a total of 900 trees, 5,000 shrubs, and 11,000 perennial plants. The plants in the Bosco Verticale are capable of producing oxygen and reducing the amount of CO2 in the air, making the building a self-sufficient ecosystem.
It’s a competitive process, where several students applied for the position of Campus Ambassador, but during the rigorous selection process, written application, phone interview and presentation of ideas for promoting Liquid Trees on campus, the organization assessed communication skills, passion for sustainability and ability to network and lead.
Yakubu showcased his strengths, ideas, and commitment to the cause, which ultimately led to his selection as the Campus Ambassador.
While interviewing Yakubu, he unfolded how he would be disappointed if the post was not given to him and how happy he was when he was appointed as the Ambassador.
“I would feel disappointed but not defeated. I would use the experience as an opportunity to learn and improve, and I would continue to pursue my passion for sustainability and leadership.
I’m extremely happy and honored to represent Liquid Trees on campus! It’s a fantastic opportunity to make a positive impact, network with like-minded individuals, and develop my skills.”
He advised other students who are striving to secure the position of Ambassador to be passionate about the cause or organization; “Develop strong communication and leadership skills; Network and build relationships; Be prepared to learn and adapt; Show initiative and take calculated risks; Stay focused and committed.
As Campus Ambassador my telos is to: Raise awareness about Liquid Trees and its mission; Engage and educate my peers on sustainability and carbon reduction; Build a strong community of like-minded individuals; Develop and implement innovative ideas for promoting Liquid Trees; Collaborate with campus authorities to integrate Liquid Trees’ initiatives into university activities; Achieve a significant increase in registrations and participation.” Yakubu said.
