LGSC Denies its Chairman’s Alleged Diversion of Soludo’s Transport Largesse to Workers

The Anambra State Local Government Service Commission has debunked the reports alleging the mismanagement of monies given to its Chairman, Vin Ifeanyi Ezeaka intended for 40 workers in each of the 21 local government areas of the State by the state governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo.

The governor was said to have released the sum of N20,000 as transport largesse for 40 workers from each of the 21 local government areas of the State, during the opening ceremony of the Anambra Local Government Service Week held last week, at the Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, in Awka.

However, trending reports alleged that the LGSC’s Chairman, Barr Ezeaka had diverted the said money, which sparked outrage among the workers who were allegedly denied the funds.

But refuting the report, the Anambra LGSC Public Relations Officer, Comrade Agu Chidi in a statement said Ezeaka never disbursed any money but ordered that the attendees’ transport fares be shared to all the local Government workers as directed by the Governor and was carried out immediately in the presence of the Labour Leaders.

The statement read, “The attention of the Anambra State Local Government Service Commission has been drawn to the odious misinformation circulating in various electronic and print media to the purported mismanagement of monies given by Governor Chukwuma Soludo as transport fares to LG workers when he attended the opening ceremony of the Anambra State Local Government Service Week in Awka on 25th June 2024.

“The Commission wishes to set the record straight and to convey to Ndi Anambra and the general public that those allegations are false, devoid of any iota of truth.

“It is simply the handiwork of mischief makers and enemies of Anambra State Government; bent on creating unnecessary tension in the State and whose intent is aimed at rubbishing the monumental achievements in local government reforms, and Zero tolerance to corruption initiated by Barr Ezeaka.

“For the sake of clarity, Barrister Ezeaka never disbursed any money but ordered that the attendees’ transport fares be shared to all the local Government workers at the Dora Akunyili Women Development Center, as directed by Mr Governor Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo, and which was carried out with official dispatch in the presence of the Labour Leaders, including the State president of NULGE.

“All the attendees present at the Hall collected their #20,000 largesse together with their lunch package.

“Therefore, the Anambra State Local Government Service Commission found it absurd and surprising that some uninformed disgruntled elements and agents of destabilization shall concoct such baseless allegations and lies against the person of Barrister Ezeaka, whose pedigree as an incorruptible personality and his impeccable record of zero tolerance for corruption and other related vices, shines as a beacon for everyone to behold.”
