Mrs Modupe Onitiri-Abiola one of the wives of the late Chief MKO Abiola yesterday declared her intention to run for governor of Lagos State on the platform of ACCORD Party.
Mrs Onitiri Abiola made her intention known in a statement she released in Lagos.
She said her mission was to eradicate poverty.
She said, “Since there is no independent candidacy in Nigerian political system yet, I needed to join a political party. During my search for the party to join, I found out that what we have on the ground is severe poverty”.
She continued, “I saw that the people of Lagos are yet to truly receive the dividends of democracy they deserve”.
She added, “I have seen the suffering of those caught in the grasp of poverty. I have also seen the great potentials our state can achieve”.
The aspirant also said if elected, she would work to end god-fatherism, money politics and corruption in Nigeria.
