LASG Organises Symposium For Youths On Peaceful Conflict Resolution

Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, has disclosed plans to hold a symposium with the theme “Rebuilding For Greatness; Peaceful Conflict Resolution”, for youth across all the local government areas in the State.

The Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Segun Dawodu, who disclosed this over the weekend, added that the symposium slated today at LTV Blue Roof Agidingbi, Ikeja, follows the recent International Youth Day celebration.

He said that the symposium has become a veritable tool for orientating youths about leadership and job opportunities within the State, expressing the belief that when youths are gainfully engaged and have the right information and orientation, their restiveness and exuberances would be drastically reduced.

The Commissioner restated the commitment of the State Government to repositioning the youth architecture, through policies and programmes, to meet their yearnings and aspirations.

In his words: “The present administration of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu is not unaware of the various challenges confronting the youths in different parts of the State in terms of unemployment and other challenges, which have been aggravated by the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic in 2019”.

He, however, cautioned youths from engaging in any act of violence that could further slow down the pace of governance, saying violence is an ill wind that blows no one good, thus the theme of the symposium is tagged “Rebuilding For Greatness; Peaceful Conflict Resolution”.

The symposium, according to him, is geared towards enlightening the youths on how to employ peaceful ways of engaging the Government.

On his part, Director, Youth Department in the Ministry, Mr. Femi Adetoye, said seasoned facilitators have been invited to deliver lectures that would further enlighten the youths on the chosen theme for the symposium.
