In response to growing concerns over security risks within the state, the Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents.

A statement by the commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said the government’s efforts were underscored by a recent operation conducted under the Dolphin Estate bridge, which led to the arrest of several suspects. This operation is part of a larger statewide initiative aimed at eliminating visible security threats.

The influx of miscreants, beggars, and destitute individuals onto Lagos streets has sparked fears of insecurity among residents. In light of this, the government has deemed the situation unacceptable and has taken decisive action to address it.

According to the statement, over the weekend, a total of 450 miscreants were rescued as part of the ongoing exercise. Of these, 371 have requested assistance to relocate to their respective states due to the hardships they face in Lagos. Additionally, 79 individuals exhibiting signs of illness have been absorbed into government facilities for rehabilitation.

The government has affirmed its commitment to continue this exercise as part of its responsibility to safeguard the lives and property of citizens. Measures will be implemented to ensure that Lagos remains a safe and secure environment for all residents.

The public is encouraged to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and report any suspicious activities to further enhance the effectiveness of these security initiatives, the statement concluded.
