Lagos Partners FG on Mining

Special Adviser to the Governor on Mineral Resources, Engr. Abiola Olowu has paid an official visit to the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake in Abuja to seek a synergy between Lagos State and the Federal Government to achieve operational efficiency in mining activities across the State.

Engr. Olowu, in his remarks during the visit, noted that with effective collaboration between the State and Federal Government, quacks and illegal mining activities, road degradation and environmental pollution by dredgers and truck drivers across the State would be eradicated.

“The synergy between both tiers of government is paramount as this will facilitate communication between the State and Federal Government. It will also ensure that exploration and exploitation activities on Mineral Resources are in line with Global best practices”, he added.

Responding, the Minister, Dr. Dele Alake assured the Special Adviser and his team that the Federal Government is ready to support and assist Lagos State in the Mining Sector concerning achieving full compliance with guidelines and rules of engagement in Mining activities in Lagos by stakeholders.

Other members of the visiting team were Mr. Emilo Cardozo, Head of Solid Minerals; Mr. Adegoke Kuseju, Head of Geological Services and Mr. Yusuf Ojomu, Head Of Admin, Office of Mineral Resources.
