Lagos Government Shuts Down Jumia Office

—

The Lagos State Government has shut down a Jumia outlet located on Herbert Macaulay Way in Yaba, citing a breach of environmental regulations.
Commissioner Tokunbo Wahab of the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources made the enforcement announcement via his official account on X, detailing the reasons behind the closure.
The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) took action due to the outlet’s unauthorized disposal of sewage into the surrounding area.
Investigations revealed the use of a submersible pump to expel untreated sewage into nearby drainage systems and along road edges.
The property owners are now set to face legal consequences under the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law of 2017.
Commissioner Wahab underscored the state government’s unwavering commitment to enforcing environmental laws, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding public health.
