Labour Party Supports Atiku’s Call For Merger, NNPP Gives Condition

The Leadership of the Labour Party has described Atiku’s call for a merger as a welcomed development. Addressing Newsmen on Wednesday 15th 2023, the Acting National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Obiora Ifoh revealed that the Labour Party is willing to accept any proposition that is geared towards improving the Nigerian Democracy. Obiora stated that what Nigeria has now is far departure from Democracy.

“Every Nigerian is interested in having a true democracy. What we have now is far away from democracy. So, if there is a preposition by opposition elements to ensure that democracy is installed, why not? That preposition must be given a good thought. Anything that will make Nigerians witness democracy is accepted”. He added.

Also reacting to the merger call by the Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, National Publicity Secretary of the New Nigeria People’s Party NNPP, Yakubu Shendam, however stated that the party can only avail itself for a merger if the former Vice President was going to rally behind former Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso to wrestle power from the APC come 2027.

It would be recalled that the former vice president and presidential flag bearer of the PDP during the 2023 presidential elections, Atiku Abubakar earlier called for parties to unite while expressing his worries over the messy state of the Nigerian Democracy.
