Kwara: 3 kids suffocate to death after locking themselves in car

According to reports, three siblings have suffocated to death inside a car parked in their residential quarters in Ilorin, Kwara State.

It was gathered that the incident happened at about 2pm on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at the Sango-Kulende quarters, Ilorin, when the children, a boy and two girls, locked themselves up in the stationary car, reported to have been borrowed by their father from his sister.

It was learnt that the mother of the deceased, who had left the house to buy something, found them inside the locked car upon her return.

After noticing the footwears of her children outside the parked car, she raised an alarm and forced the doors of the car open.

An eyewitness said that the three children were rushed to Olutayo Clinic, very close to their residence for medical attention.

It was said that a medical director, Dr Adeyemo, however, directed that they be taken to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Ilorin, where they were eventually confirmed lifeless.

An eyewitness revealed that the three siblings were buried according to Islamic rites at a Muslim cemetery.
