Kogi Varsity Confirms Killing of Two Kidnapped Students, Declares Three-Day Mourning

The Kogi State Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTEC) has declared a three-day mourning for two of its students who were killed in kidnappers’ den.

It was gathered that the two victims, James Michael Anajuwe, a 100-level Information Technology student, and Musa Hussein, a 100-level Software Engineering student were among students abducted by armed gunmen who raided the school on May 9, 2024.

Meanwhile, a total of 20 of the abducted students were rescued by the security operatives and local hunters.

In a statement issued by the Registrar, Olufunke Hudson on Sunday, May 26, the university expressed sadness over the unfortunate incident.

The statement read; “It is with deep pain that the management of the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara hereby declares three days of mourning over the death of two of our students who were kidnapped on Thursday, 9th May, and killed on Saturday, 25th May, 2024”.

Reacting on the incident, the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Bertrand Onuoha, also confirmed the sad development to newmen on Sunday 26th May.

Yes, two of them were found to have been shot dead,” the CP noted.

Onuoha who described the killing by their abductors as very unfortunate, added that the security operatives were on the trail of the abductors to bring them to book.
