Kogi State Governor Advocates for Programmatic World Bank Interventions

The Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Ododo, has emphasized the need for a programmatic approach to all World Bank interventions in the state, aligning them with Kogi’s 30-year development agenda aimed at shared hope and prosperity.

This initiative is intended to enhance the coordination and effectiveness of all projects and programs within the state.

This call was made public through a press statement released on Monday by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah.

Governor Ododo highlighted the importance of collaboration with the World Bank Group for the execution of development projects across key sectors of Kogi’s economy.

He made these remarks during a working visit to the new Country Director of the World Bank Group in Nigeria, Dr. Ndiame Diop, at the Bank’s office in Abuja on Monday.

During this high-level engagement, Governor Ododo reviewed all ongoing World Bank projects in Kogi State and advocated for expanded interventions in critical areas such as education, healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure.

These expansions, he noted, are crucial for boosting the overall social and economic development of the state.

Dr. Ndiame Diop, the new World Bank Country Director, assured Governor Ododo of his commitment to deepening the cooperation and partnership with the Kogi State government.

He expressed his eagerness to work with the Governor to accelerate the implementation of all ongoing World Bank projects and programs in Kogi State.

Governor Ododo was accompanied on this visit by the Chief of Staff, Honourable Ali Bello, commissioners, and other senior government officials from the state.

Notably, Governor Ododo is the first state governor in Nigeria to engage in a high-level discussion with the World Bank under Dr. Diop’s leadership, who recently assumed office as the Country Director in Nigeria.
