Kidnappers Demand N900m Ransom for the Release of Hausa Musician’s Mother

Kidnappers who abducted Hajiya Hauwa’u Adamu, the mother of well-known Hausa musician Dauda Adamu, popularly known as Rarara, on Tuesday, demanded a ransom of N900 million for her release.
Initially, the kidnappers demanded N1 billion, but they lowered the amount after a brief negotiation with a family member.
According to a family source the kidnappers used the phone of a woman from whom they had taken a phone during the abduction.
“They called the family using a phone they took from a woman when they abducted Hajiya. Initially, they demanded N1 billion, but after a brief discussion with a family member, they reduced the amount to N900 million,” the source said.
“At first, they insisted on negotiating directly with Rarara himself, but he was unwell due to the distress caused by his mother’s abduction. Eventually, they agreed to negotiate with another family member. The kidnappers assured the family that Hajiya is in good condition and that she would be released once the ransom is paid.”
The family source also mentioned that the communication with the kidnappers was brief, and since then, there has been no further contact.
However, the family believes negotiations are still ongoing and are awaiting the kidnappers’ next call.
The incident occurred when the kidnappers gained access to Hajiya’s bedroom, waking up all the women sleeping there and comparing their faces to a photograph they had.
“We learnt that after they gained access into her bedroom, they woke up all the women that were sleeping together with her and started comparing their faces with the photograph.”
Last week, the Katsina State Police Command confirmed the arrest of two suspects in connection with the abduction.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to secure Hajiya Hauwa’u Adamu’s safe release.
