Kidnapped Lafia Varsity Students Regain Freedom

—

Seven students of the Federal University of Lafia (FULAFIA) in Nasarawa State, who were abducted four days ago, have regained their freedom.

Abducted students of the Federal University Lafia have been released by their abductors. The students regained their freedom on Sunday December 10, 2023, through the joint effort of the Nigerian military and other security operatives.

President of the Student Representative Council, Ibrahim Ogabo, confirmed their release in a phone conversation with Channels Television on Monday 11th December 2023.

The students, which comprised of three females and four males, are currently been attended to at the University’s health facility.

Recall that the victims were kidnapped from their off-campus accommodation in Gandu community on Wednesday night, December 6th 2023.

Over the past few months, the community, housing mostly students of the university, has come under series of attacks leading to the loss of lives and abduction of many other residents in recent time.

A situation that earlier led to a protest by students of the institution, who demanded the release of their colleagues while calling for improved security measures in the area to forestall future recurrences.
