At this point, I am convinced that KEDCO (NEPA) has a department called “Stress Distribution & Blood Pressure Management Unit.” Their job? Simple: Identify peaceful citizens and spoil their weekend plans.
Because the moment Friday evening arrives, the exact time you want to stretch your legs, sip something cold, and pretend life is easy, that is when KEDCO will suddenly remember you exist.
Light off.
Just like that.
No warning.
No apology.
Not even a small courtesy like clearing its throat before disappearing.
It’s as if they are actively looking for someone to dash HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE every weekend. If you doubt me, check how they time their outages: When you want to iron your clothes? Light off. When your phone is 3% and you’re waiting for an important call? Light off. When Nigeria is playing a football match? My brother, my sister, forget it. Light off!
And after they put you through emotional gymnastics, they will still arrive with a bill so bold and confident you’d think they personally powered your village.
But you see us? We refused to be victims in this life. We carried our destiny with our own hands, marched to the market, and upgraded to Inverters, the true symbol of modern independence.
Now, when KEDCO takes light, we don’t even blink. We just smile like people with secret wealth. Fans spinning. Bulbs shining. Phones charging. Neighbours peeping through the window like, “Ah-ahn, is this not the same transformer we are sharing?”
Yes, it is. But we have escaped their BP distribution plan. They cannot catch us again.
So this weekend, while KEDCO is searching for its next hypertension beneficiary, we are here basking in uninterrupted peace, enjoying fresh breeze like people inside a European documentary.
