The Kebbi State Government has removed three district heads in the Gwandu Emirate due to allegations of serious wrongdoing, disobedience, fraud, and involvement in partisan activities.Â
Some of the district heads were additionally accused of abandoning their positions without proper permission.
Alhaji Mansur Shehu, the Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, announced this decision in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.
He explained that the action was taken in accordance with the Public Service Rules (PSR) of the state.
The district heads who have been deposed are Alhaji Lawal Yakubu and Mai Arewan Yeldu in Arewa Local Government Area, Malam Ahmed Sani and Sarkin Gabas Geza in Dandi Local Government Area, and Alhaji Tukur Aliyu and Jagwadejin Bakuwe in Suru Local Government Area.
Shehu clarified that the dismissal of these district heads became necessary following a comprehensive investigation by the Local Government Service Commission into the charges leveled against them by their respective local government councils.
He emphasized that the Commission holds the responsibility to discipline local government employees from Grade Level 07 and above, which includes district heads, in accordance with the provisions of the Kebbi State Local Government Law (2008).
Upon receiving the charges, the Commission promptly suspended the district heads and established committees to thoroughly investigate the allegations.
This decisive action reflects the commitment of the Kebbi State Government to maintaining integrity and adherence to the established rules within the public service sector.
