Troops of Sector 1, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralised a terrorist and recovered four motorcycles and other items during a dawn offensive in Dan Musa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The operation, conducted on September 4, followed credible intelligence on the presence of terrorists around Yantumaki Forest, The News Chronicle reports.
Acting swiftly on the intelligence, the troops launched a coordinated assault on the terrorists, engaging them with overwhelming firepower and forcing them to flee into the surrounding bushes.
During the subsequent exploitation of the area, the troops confirmed the neutralisation of one terrorist and recovered four motorcycles, a mobile phone and five empty intravenous drip containers suspected to have been used to treat wounded terrorists.
The operation underscores the sustained pressure being mounted by troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to degrade terrorist networks, cripple their operational capabilities and deny them freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area.
The operation also highlights the importance of timely and credible intelligence in supporting ongoing military efforts to dismantle terrorist elements operating in the region.
