Residents in Burdugau, a town in Malumfashi Local Government area of Katsina, are worried about their safety because of bad representation from their Member of Parliament, Hon. Aminu Ibrahim.Â
They’re upset because despite a recent attack by bandits where they lost 11 people, including married women, and had their belongings stolen, their MP hasn’t said anything or offered support.
“Our community is now deserted, to our dismay, the member representing us keeps mute without even commiserating to the community over the incident.”
“We don’t know the importance of our member representing Malumfashi and Kafur federal constituency because he has shown no concern for us.
The town is now empty because over 5000 people have left due to the ongoing insecurity.
They’ve asked their state government for help, but so far, nothing has been done to make them feel safe enough to return home.
The people of Burdugau rely mostly on farming to make a living. They’re worried that if nothing is done soon, they won’t be able to farm during the upcoming rainy season, which will lead to hunger and poverty for many families.
They’re also concerned about their children’s education. Without security, they fear that their children’s future will be affected, and they won’t have the opportunities they deserve.
While they appreciate the efforts of Senator Muntari Dandutse for speaking up for them in the Senate, they urge him to continue advocating for their needs.
They highlight the urgent need for action to address the insecurity that has affected many towns and villages in the area.
