The Kano State Refuse Management and Sanitation Board (REMASAB) has intensified round-the-clock waste evacuation and environmental sanitation operations across major parts of the Kano metropolis to promote a cleaner, healthier environment.
The Managing Director of the board, Dr Muhammad Salisu-Khalil, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday by REMASAB’s Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Ahmad.
According to the statement, the exercise is part of the board’s sustained campaign to combat indiscriminate waste disposal and improve environmental sanitation across the state.
It said REMASAB recently carried out extensive waste evacuation and clean-up operations at Filin Mahaha, Kofar Naisa Park, the area opposite the residence of the Sarkin Fada, and other locations requiring urgent intervention.
Salisu-Khalil said the operations form part of the board’s broader strategy to eliminate waste accumulation and enhance environmental hygiene across Kano.
He added that the ongoing sanitation campaign has continued to receive positive support from residents and communities.
The REMASAB boss noted that Kano’s growing population and expanding commercial activities make regular waste management interventions essential to maintaining a clean environment.
He appealed to residents, business owners, community leaders, and other stakeholders to support the board by complying with environmental sanitation regulations and adopting proper waste disposal practices.
“The responsibility of keeping Kano clean rests on all of us. Residents should partner with the board in sustaining a cleaner, healthier and more prosperous state,” Salisu-Khalil said.
