Kano Governor Reunites 76 Minors Detained During #EndBadGovernance Protests with Families

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf reunited 76 minors detained during the August #EndBadGovernance protests with their families on Thursday.

Represented by his Chief of Staff, Shehu Sagagi, the handover took place at the Muhammadu Buhari Specialist Hospital, where the children had been treated for ailments during their detention.

The minors’ release followed an order from President Bola Tinubu. Governor Yusuf thanked the president for his intervention and urged parents to prioritize their children’s education.

He also warned against using associations to solicit funds, emphasizing that the state would not tolerate such actions.

The Commissioner for Education, Haruna Doguwa, announced support for the children’s return to school, including uniforms and shoes for 50 students, while promising to assist a final-year undergraduate and a graduate with employment opportunities.

Health Commissioner Dr. Abubakar Yusuf confirmed all detained minors received medical care during their stay.

Former Sokoto State Governor Attahiru Bafarawa donated N50,000 to each child for their education.

Parents expressed gratitude to the government and other contributors for ensuring the children’s release.
