Kano Crackdown: Seized Beer Trucks Transferred to Hisbah

The Kano State Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA) has handed over three trucks loaded with alcoholic drinks to the Kano State Hisbah Board for disposal.

The Managing Director of KAROTA, Mr. Faisal Mahmud, revealed this in a statement released by the agency’s spokesperson, Abubakar Ibrahim, on Thursday in Kano.

According to Mahmud, “The trucks, loaded with 410 cartons and 4,920 bottles of beer, were intercepted by KAROTA operatives during a night patrol along major streets within the Kano metropolis.

“The consignments were being transported for delivery to different locations in the city.

“The interception was in line with KAROTA’s mandate to identify and report suspicious movements.”

He noted that the agency would continue to intensify surveillance to stop the circulation of substances deemed dangerous to public health.

While taking custody of the trucks, the Commander-General of the Hisbah Board, Sheikh Aminu Daurawa, applauded KAROTA officials for their alertness and stated that due process would be observed before the destruction of the items.

Daurawa, represented by the Head of the Intoxicants Unit, Chief Superintendent of Hisbah Sani Nasidi, added that the Hisbah Board would maintain its collaboration with KAROTA to combat the inflow of banned products into the state.

He also offered prayers, asking God to reward all officers involved in the operation.
