Former senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has described as horrific the action of the Nigerian Army that resulted to the killing of several Maulud celebrants in Tudun Biri village of Igabi local government area of Kaduna state on Sunday 3rd December 2023.
Reacting to the incident in an interview on Trust TV’s Daily Politics on Tuesday 6th December 2023, Sani lamented that the tragedy was a grave act of negligence urging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s led administration to carry out a prompt investigation on the matter.
The human right activist stated that the military statement concerning the incident was contradictory. He stated that initially the military said it was a mistake and eventually justified the act with the fact that it was prompted by the army pursuit of terrorists.
The former senator maintained that in view of the consistent terrorist’ attacks across the country, and the inability of the security operatives to defeat them, killing of civilians was not any different from the act of banditry.
Earlier, aggrieved protesters under the aegis of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) North West zone, and Arewa Youth Movement led by Nasir Ishaku, stormed the National Assembly premises in Abuja, to protest the killing of several innocent citizens by a military drone on Sunday, December 3 2023.
Demanding justice for the victims of the bomb attack, the protesters also asked that the Minister of Defence, Abubakar Badaru, live up to expectations or be shown the way out of the office.
