JUST IN: Twenty feared dead in Taraba boat mishap

Report reaching The News-Chronicles indicates that over twenty persons said to be mostly fishermen have reportedly lost their lives during a boat mishap in Taraba state. According to the Chairman Taraba state water transportation, Alhaji Jidda Suleiman, the incident happened between Chinkai of Benue and the Anyeci area of Wukari local government area of Taraba State.

Suleiman, stated that the boat was conveying fishermen, comprising people from Ibi and Wukari local government areas of Taraba, mostly fishermen who converged and boarded the boat for a fish expedition, and along the way, had an accident that claimed over 20 lives.

He called on the state government to intensify efforts in addressing a repeat of the sad development.

Reacting to the incident, the Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, condoled with families of the victims calling on them to take solace in God. Dr Agbu prayed that God would grant the deceased eternal rest, stressing that his administration is doing everything possible in creating modalities that would forestall future recurrence.

It would be recalled that barely a week ago, there was a similar incident that claimed several lives in Karim-Lamido Local Government Area of the state.
