JUST IN: Plateau Speaker, Deputy Resign

Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Moses Thomas Sule, has resigned. The former Mikang LGA Chairman and the lawmaker representing the Mikang constituency at the state assembly resigned alongside his Deputy, Hon. Gwottaon Fom.

Meanwhile, Gabriel Dawang, the member representing Pankshin North, has been elected as the new Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly. Hon. Timothy Dantong, representing Riyom constituency, has assumed the position of the new Deputy Speaker of the Assembly.

Sources indicate that the latest development could be traced to the sacking of Governor Caleb Mutfwang, alongside some PDP federal and state lawmakers in the state.

Recall that an Appeal Court sitting in Abuja had, on Sunday, the 19th of November 2023, nullified the election of Governor Caleb Mutfwang, declaring APC’s Nentawe Yilwatda the authentic winner of the March 28 Governorship election in the state.
