JUST IN: Over 20 Medical and Dental Students, Along with a House Officer, Kidnapped in Benue State 

Over 20 medical and dental students, along with a House Officer, were kidnapped in Benue State while traveling to the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) annual convention in Enugu. 
The students, who were from the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos, were ambushed by armed men on their way to the event.
The abduction took place around 5:30 PM in the Otukpo area of Benue State, where the students were suddenly confronted and taken hostage.
Among those kidnapped was a House Officer named Dr. Louis, whose name has been confirmed as one of the victims.
The incident was confirmed by the Benue State Police Command early on Friday morning, sending shockwaves through the community and sparking widespread concern for the safety and well-being of the abducted individuals.
SP Catherine Anene, the spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, stated that an investigation into the incident had been launched immediately after the report was received.
“Yes, the report of the kidnapping is true. The report was received around 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM, and an investigation is ongoing,” SP Anene confirmed to Reporters.
The news of the kidnapping was also shared on social media by an X account that focuses on issues in the medical field, @Nigerian_Doctor.
The account appealed to security agencies for urgent intervention, stressing the need to rescue the students and alleviate the trauma faced by their families.
