According to reports, the Ondo State Governor Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has appointed the former Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly, Mr Olaide Adelami, as the deputy governor of the state.

This development is coming a few hours after the governor sacked all the commissioners and special advisers on Wednesday 24 January 2024.

A statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr Ebenezer Adeniyan, indicated that name of the new deputy governor has been transmitted to the state House of Assembly for legislative confirmation.

Mr Ebenezer Adelami retired as Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly in April 2018. The new deputy governor hails from Owo, Owo Local Government Area, and the same LGA of late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

The former APC governorship aspirant in 2020 who later stepped down for the late Akeredolu, had earlier stated that as an experienced and trained technocrat, it wasn’t part of his plans to join politics initially.

He said that he was expecting an appointment but was later assigned to coordinate Ondo State for the Presidential Support Committee of the All Progressives Congress. A responsibility whose scope of work involved the resolution of the crisis within the members.

He maintained that that was his first exposure to field politics and that it afforded him the opportunity to feel the needs of the people across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State.
