Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have rescued two kidnap victims in separate operations in Bassa and Kanam Local Government Areas of Plateau State.
The Joint Task Force disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday by its Media Information Officer, Capt. Chinonso Oteh, saying the operations were part of intensified efforts to deny criminal elements freedom of action across the state.
Oteh said troops of Sector 3, deployed in Bassa LGA, launched a search-and-rescue operation at about 9am on Tuesday after receiving credible information about the abduction of a man identified as Ndubuisi Onuigbo.
He said the operation led to the successful rescue of the victim.
In a separate operation in Kanam LGA, troops of Sector 2 encountered suspected terrorists during a fighting patrol in the early hours of Wednesday at Kukawa village.
According to the statement, the troops pursued the fleeing suspects, who abandoned a kidnapped victim, identified as Mallam Sambo Abdullahi, allowing the soldiers to rescue him.

The two victims were subsequently debriefed and reunited with their families.
The Commander of Operation ENDURING PEACE, Maj.-Gen. Maxwell Dangana, commended the troops for their professionalism and decisive response during the operations.
He urged residents to remain calm and continue supporting security forces in their efforts to restore peace across the state.
