JUST IN: Edo Assembly Serves Deputy Gov, Shaibu Impeachment Notice

The Edo State House of Assembly on Wednesday 6 March served a Notice of Impeachment to Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu.

The House proceedings began at 11.30 am Wednesday.

It was gathered the the deputy governor is expected to respond within seven days.

According to a source in the government of the state, 22 lawmakers out of the 24 have signed the impeachment notice making the eventual removal of Shaibu irreversible.

Meanwhile, the impeachment notice is the latest in the political conflict between the state Govern or, Godwin Obaseki and his Deputy, who have been at loggerheads since mid-last year when Shaibu revealed   his intention to run for the office of the governor of the state.
