JUST IN: Dino Melaye Dumps PDP, Decries Party’s Decline

Former Kogi West Senator Dino Melaye has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing the party’s “lack of potency and capacity” to rescue Nigeria from its current political and governance crises.

In a resignation letter shared via his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Melaye declared an immediate withdrawal from all party activities, stating: “I hereby tender my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party at all levels of involvement.”

Melaye, who was the PDP’s governorship candidate in Kogi State in 2023, said his decision followed deep reflection on the party’s trajectory, accusing the party of failing to offer credible leadership or deliver good governance to Nigerians.

“I can no longer in good conscience participate in the activities of the party or lend my support to her agenda,” he wrote.

The fiery politician’s departure is being viewed as another major blow to the PDP, especially following recent high-profile defections and internal wrangling.

Although Melaye did not indicate his next political destination, he vowed to continue championing justice, equity, and progress for the Nigerian people.

His exit has triggered speculation over his next political move amid shifting alliances ahead of the 2027 general elections.
