JUST IN: Aiyedatiwa Likely To Be Announced Acting Governor as Ondo Lawmakers Sit Today

—

As concerns grow over the health status of the Ondo State Governor, the Ondo State House of Assembly is reportedly convening a plenary session to discuss the political developments in the state.

Sources indicate that the lawmakers intend to address issues related to the executive arm of the state. Reports suggest that there is a high likelihood that the lawmakers may declare the Deputy Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, as the Acting Governor of Ondo State due to the ill health affecting Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s ability to execute official duties.

Meanwhile, Mr. Olatunji Oshati, the Chairman of the House Committee on Information in the Ondo House of Assembly, confirmed the sitting but could not confirm whether the declaration of Aiyedatiwa as Acting Governor would be a major focus.

“What I can tell you for now is that there is something like that; the House is going to sit on the matter and review the political situation today, as directed by our national leaders. The House has considered (making the declaration), but it’s not certain. I don’t want to preempt the outcome of the meeting. If it is likely to happen, you are invited as well,” the spokesperson for the Ondo State House of Assembly revealed.

Media reports suggest that not all lawmakers support the declaration of the Deputy Governor as Acting Governor. The President is expected to meet with the lawmakers today to discuss the matter.
