Jürgen Klopp hits 200 Premier League wins

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp reached 200 Premier League wins last night when his side leveled Chelsea in a 5 goals thriller match at Anfield.

The 56 year old has overseen 318 Premier League games for Liverpool – in those games he has won 200, drew 74 and lost 44.

Liverpool extended their lead on the Premier League log by five points ahead of arch rival Manchester City, who has a game at hand.

The first half ended with a 2-0 lead from Liverpool, Diogo Jota and youngster Conor Bradley who has been pivotal since the absence of vice Captain Trent Alexander Arnold scored his first senior career goal.

Dominik Szoboslai and Luiz Diaz extended the goal to four, but Chelsea pulled one back through a Christopher Nkuku strike but of course was not enough to rescue a point for the Blues.

During his post match interviews, Klopp described the approach of the boys as “a standout”

“The performance, nothing else to say. Standouts… start, really good, super-important. So, the story of the game is the story of the game, but the story of the game could have been completely different if we don’t start like we start, I would say. That’s how it is. You always try – we don’t do it always, but we try – to give a game a direction. This direction was clear and obvious in the beginning. We have chances, we miss them, we score goals, we should have scored more, we miss a penalty. Go in half-time and can show the boys when Chelsea came out, when Chelsea played through us, why and where and how we can do that even better. [There were] two or three situations where the press started with Diogo instead of Dom and then they pass around us and go through, and then you have to do a lot of work to sort that out. In that moment, we could do that.”

The German manager melted the hearts of millions of football fans when he announced his desire to leave the club at the end of the season following a 9 year spell.
