The Igbo World Union, an Igbo socio-political organisation, has urged President Goodluck Jonathan to contest for the 2015 presidential election.
The group made this known yesterday during a rally of its South-East zone in Lagos.
Speaking, Publicity Secretary of the group, Theophilus Chibueze, said the call on Jonathan became necessary because the Jonathan administration had benefitted the Igbos more than any previous administration.
his, according to him, can only get better as the President’s continued stay in office would cement the peace and development the region is currently enjoying.
He noted that the re-election of Jonathan would ensure the completion of various projects already earmarked for the zone by the administration, particularly the Second Niger Bridge.
Chibueze also said that with power staying in South-south beyond 2015, the Igbo stands a better chance to secure the presidency in 2019.
“By then, the Igbo nation will have been more than prepared to stake its rightful claim to the presidency in the interest of equity and justice,” he said.
