Joe Aribo Scores First Goal After 10-Month Drought

—

Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo scored his first goal following a lengthy drought.

The Nigerian’s first-half effort helped Southampton level the score but wasn’t enough to earn a point for the Saints at St. Mary’s Stadium, as they suffered yet another shambolic 2-3 defeat to Leicester City.

The Nigerian international has been struggling with poor form for months, which caused him to lose his place both at the club and in the national team. Luck shone on him today as he netted his first goal since December 26, 2023.

Nevertheless, Southampton, who were promoted back to the Premier League, may be heading back to the English second tier, given their poor run of form this season.

They sit at the bottom of the league table with zero wins, one draw, and seven defeats, having conceded the most goals (18) so far, second only to Wolves.
