Jigawa Police Arrest Three, Seize 13,000 Illegal Pills, ₦400,000 in Raids

The Jigawa State Police Command has dismantled a drug network, arresting three suspects and seizing more than 13,000 illegal pills along with N400,000 in suspected drug proceeds. The coordinated raids took place in Sara, Bamaina, and Sundimina towns.

According to a statement released on Monday in Dutse by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, the operation was based on reliable intelligence and targeted major drug hotspots in the state.

The joint effort by officers from the three divisions led to the recovery of 13,622 pieces of illegal drugs, including Exol, Tramadol, D5 tablets, Rubber Solution, Diazepam, and five blocks of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.

SP Adam also revealed that N441,975 in cash believed to be proceeds from drug sales was recovered during the raids.

The arrested suspects were identified as: Yusuf Garba (alias Bamis), 30, from Sara Kudu Quarters, Muhammad Rufa’i, 40, from Kangire village, and Jibrin Manga, 30, from Nasaru town in Ningi LGA of Bauchi State.

Police investigations showed that the suspects had been involved in the illegal drug trade for several years, posing a serious threat to young people and public safety.

In a separate case on October 23, officers from Hadejia “B” Division arrested Idris Muhammed, 35, of Babbar Ruga in Malam Madori LGA, who was caught along the Turabu–Hadejia Road with three cows suspected to have been stolen from Yobe State. He confessed that the theft was organized by Kaura Dillali, who is now on the run.

That same day, another suspect known as Bale, a wanted receiver of stolen goods, fled after abandoning his unregistered Jincheng motorcycle when confronted by police. The bike was recovered and is now in custody.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Dahiru, commended the Divisional Police Officers and their teams for their coordinated work and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ending drug abuse and trafficking in Jigawa.

He also urged residents, parents, and community leaders to continue providing useful information to help sustain the fight against crime. All arrested suspects have been charged to court following investigations.
