Controversial self-proclaimed sex therapist Hauwa Mohammed, known as Jaruma, recently shared her reasons for getting married.
Jaruma married Ross Fahad Isabor in 2018, but they divorced in 2021. The couple has one child together.
In an interview on the “Issues and Society” podcast, Jaruma explained that she felt immense pressure from the northern community due to her work selling aphrodisiacs as a single woman. She faced heavy criticism, with many questioning why a single woman was teaching others about intimate matters for a significant fee.
“It was a tough situation,” she said. “The sex industry is worth billions, and I earned N760 million in three years. I knew I couldn’t walk away from my successful business just because of the backlash.”
To escape the pressure, she decided to marry. “I didn’t marry for love; I got married just a month after meeting my ex-husband to alleviate the criticism I was facing. I made it clear to him that this was not about love, but rather the pressure I was under.”
It’s worth noting that in 2022, Ross Fahad Isabor publicly asked Jaruma to stop using his name to promote what he called her “fake products.”
