Iwobi Returns to Social Media Weeks After AFCON Criticism

Weeks after exiting social media platforms, embattled Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi, has finally returned to Instagram.

This development is coming after the Fulham player recently deleted all posts on his account following swipes thrown at him after the team’s defeat to Ivory Coast in the final of the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations.

Iwobi was a target of cyberbullying following what football fans regarded as unsatisfactory midfield performance during the game.

In a series of posts, Nigerians berated him, resulting in hauls of threats and insults on his Instagram page. A situation that forced the 27-year-old to delete more than a hundred posts from his profile.

The Nephew to former Super Eagles football legend, Jay Jay Okocha however shared a video on his account on Saturday night.

In the video, Iwobi was seen tantalizing viewers with a preview of what seems to be an unreleased rap song.

The video which captured clips of his football games and among others, saw the footballer exuberating on his self-confidence and disregard for those who felt he wasn’t good enough.

It would be recalled that when the player came under fire for his poor performance, Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh was among many others who lent their voices and gave him their support urging him to keep his head up high after facing heavy criticism from fans in the wake of Nigeria’s loss to Ivory Coast during the AFCON final.
