The Nigerian Army troops have successfully apprehended a top commander of the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) involved in the killing of an Army general and three soldiers. 
Identified as Saidu Hassan Yellow, also known by his alias Abu Saidu, has long been a prime target for military authorities.
The operation leading to his capture was meticulously executed by the 144 Battalion, Operation Hadin Kai, stationed in Madagali, Adamawa State.
According to insights provided by Zagazola Makama, a respected expert in counter-insurgency and security analysis within the Lake Chad region, intelligence sources affirmed the strategic importance of Yellow’s apprehension.
The operation, which unfolded in the vicinity of Mubi Market General area on April 9, 2024, represented a culmination of intensive efforts to track down and neutralize this high-value target.
Yellow’s significance within the extremist network was underscored by his alleged involvement in orchestrating the devastating assault on Askira town back on November 12, 2021.
During this heinous attack, which remains etched in the memory of the nation, the Commander of the 28 Task Force Brigade, alongside three valiant soldiers, tragically lost their lives while courageously defending against the insurgents’ onslaught.
The inventory of items recovered from Yellow and his cohorts paints a revealing picture of their lifestyle and operations.
Among the seized possessions were three mobile handsets, three ATM cards, a wristwatch, four rings, a set of keys, and a sum of N1,900 in cash.

Following their capture, Yellow and his associates have been promptly transferred to military authorities for thorough interrogation, investigation, and profiling.
