Political commentator and businessman Isaac Fayose has stirred public discussion after criticizing Nigeria’s economic and security challenges, describing the situation as a country operating under two different systems.
Rising living expenses and the continuing threat of kidnapping and ransom requests across parts of the nation, Fayose voiced worry in a social media post about the burden of taxes on people.
He said that many Nigerians find it difficult to handle several taxes and levies at a time when economic difficulties still cause great worry.
He posted on his Facebook account:
“One country 2 governments
One collecting tax
One collecting ransom
Same country

Fayose said that although official entities still gather taxes and income, criminal groups are supposedly kidnapping victims and demanding ransom payments, therefore extorting them. His comments have sparked online responses as many Nigerians consider the trade-off among public welfare, security, and money generation.
The corporate leader begged for more aggressive measures to solve poverty and security problems. He said authorities should still prioritize addressing crime and easing the strain on homes.
His remarks help advance the intensifying national discussion on public safety, economic changes, and the difficulties faced by everyday Nigerians across the country.
