Isaac Fayose Questions Alleged N800bn Support Fund for Tinubu Reelection

—

Social commentator Isaac Fayose has sparked reactions online after criticizing reports alleging that governors elected under the APC contributed about N800 billion towards President Bola Tinubu’s second-term ambition ahead of the 2027 elections.

The News Chronicle reports that Fayose questioned the origin of such large political donations in a strongly worded social media post at a time when many states are facing economic difficulties, rising poverty, and inadequate infrastructure. If the reported number is correct, it raises grave questions about the priorities of government across the nation, he said.

Fayose argued that the contribution translates to around N25 billion from every state, adding that such funds may have been used to enhance roads, healthcare, education, and other public amenities. He further said that political expenditure seems to rule national debates even as many Nigerians continue to face challenging living situations.

The businessman and activist further advised people to become more politically conscious and to hold public officials accountable. Soon, his remarks went viral online, with many Nigerians debating the role of governors in national politics and the rising cost of election campaigns in the country.

Even though there hasn’t been an official response from APC governors regarding the allegation, it has continued to elicit varied reactions across social media.
