The Iranian military has confirmed the death of one of its Su-24 fighter pilots, describing him as a martyr and honoring his service to the country.
In a statement issued by the Public Relations Department of the Iranian Armed Forces, the military said the deceased pilot played a significant role in conducting major air operations during an attack carried out on the U.S. Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar on the 11th of Esfand, according to the Iranian calendar, last year.
The statement claimed that the pilot participated in intense strikes that inflicted substantial damage on the American military installation.
Iranian authorities did not disclose the circumstances surrounding the pilot’s death but described him as one of the country’s distinguished military aviators.
The announcement was reported by the Iranian state-affiliated Tasnim News Agency. The claims regarding the extent of damage to Al Udeid Air Base have not been independently verified.
