International Friendly: Nigeria struggles with a slim win over 10-man Mozambique

—

The Super Eagles of Nigeria today played their second International Friendly game against Mozambique at the Estadio Municipal De Albufeira Stadium, Portugal. It was not the expected game with many Nigerians pouring out their displeasure following the 3-2 slim victory over Mozambique.

Flying Eagles missed

Mozambique scored an early goal in the first half to earn an early lead which lasted only for 14 minutes as Nice forward Terem Moffi levelled for the Eagles. Frank Onyeka’s 30th-minute strike put Nigeria ahead, while Moses Simon’s late strike in the first half earned Nigeria a 3-1 convincing first half lead.

Despite Mozambique receiving a red card in the 38th minute of the first half, their resilience still got them a late goal to finish the game on a good note of 3-2.

Nigeria finished both of their international friendly games against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique scoring 5 goals and conceding 4, they won one and drew the latter as preparation for the 2023 AFCON and World Cup qualifiers continues.
