Instagram Developing ‘Friend Map’ Feature for Real-Time Location Sharing

Instagram is in the works to introduce a new feature named ‘Friend Map,’ allowing users to share their real-time locations with selected individuals.
Confirmation of this development came from a Meta spokesperson in response to inquiries from journalists.
Currently in testing as an internal prototype, Friend Map permits users to control who can view their location, limiting it to followers who reciprocate their follow request.
This feature also includes a functionality termed ‘Notes,’ enabling users to leave brief messages visible to others on the map.
Moreover, ‘Ghost Mode’ offers users the option to conceal their last active location and share it only with their ‘Close friends’ list.
If officially launched, this feature would mark Instagram’s continued trend of adopting features from other platforms, reminiscent of the introduction of Stories back in 2016, inspired by Snapchat’s model.
In other news, Instagram has expanded its creator marketplace to India, leveraging machine learning for automated recommendations.
This initiative aims to facilitate ideal partnerships for creators within the Indian market
