Insecurity Wasn’t a Priority Before I Came In- Alia Claims Sharp Drop in Insecurity Across Benue

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, says his administration has recorded significant gains in the fight against insecurity since assuming office in 2023.

Speaking during an AriseNews interview monitored by The News Chronicle on Friday, Alia said incidents of violence have declined steadily, with fewer local government areas now classified as insecurity hotspots.

“Before I came onboard in 2023, about seventeen local governments were in the red zones of insecurity. We were able to bring it down to nine, then eventually six, and now we are dealing with just about three,” he said.

He attributed the progress to what he described as a deliberate prioritisation of security, alongside stronger collaboration with relevant security agencies.

“Before I came in, insecurity was not given priority, but we made it a priority. I must also give credit to Mr. President for the progress made so far,” he added.
