The Nigeria Football Federation has disclosed that there is no update yet on the injury Leicester duo Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi suffered a few days to begin the 2023 African Cup of Nation.
Although it seems both compatriots are a major doubt after they missed the Foxe’s last Championship match against Huddersfield on 1st January.
According to Leicester Mercury, which quoted Leicester manager, Enzo Maresca, on Tuesday, asserted that Iheanacho and Ndidi will join the Super Eagles camp:
“Kele and Wilf are both injured, but they are now going to be with the international team,” Maresca said.
“We’ll see if they’re going to keep them or send them back. But they are both injured, unfortunately for us.”
The Punch Newspaper contacted Super Eagles Media Officer Babajide Raji, he said there’s no update yet about the development:
“There are no updates yet. We will push out info through our official channels when there are updates.”
The Super Eagles, who seek to win their fourth title after 10 years, will kick off their campaign at the Ivory Coast against Equatorial Guinea on the January 14, 2024.
