INEC Reopens Voter Registration in Oyo Ahead of 2027 Polls

—

As political drums for the 2027 general election begin to beat louder, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the resumption of the third phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise across the 33 local government areas of Oyo State from May 11.

The disclosure was made on Wednesday in Ibadan by the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Adeniran Tella, through an official statement.

Tella explained that the exercise, scheduled to run until July 10, would cover both online pre-registration and physical registration, giving eligible residents another window to get their names on the voters’ roll.

He noted that the exercise aligns with the approved 2026 electoral timetable and would also involve the rotational deployment of INEC Voter Enrollment Device (IVED) machines across registration centres in all 33 INEC local government offices.

According to him, registration activities and the movement of the IVED machines would take place daily between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., except on weekends and public holidays.

The REC stated that intending registrants could visit the commission’s state headquarters or any INEC office within the 33 council areas during the exercise period.

Urging eligible citizens not to let the opportunity slip through their fingers, Tella called on residents yet to register to take advantage of what he described as the final phase of the CVR exercise.

He added that voters seeking to transfer their polling units or change their voting location should also seize the moment while the window remains open.

Tella further appealed to individuals who had not collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to do so without delay.
