INEC Opens Final PVC Registration Window in Ondo

Eligible voters in Ondo State have been urged not to sit on the fence as the third phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise swings into motion across the state.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) made the appeal ahead of the commencement of the exercise scheduled for Monday, May 11, describing it as another golden window for fresh registrations and updates of voter records.

In a statement issued on Sunday in Akure by the Head of Voter Education and Publicity, Mr Olayinka Ogunseye, on behalf of the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr Mutiu Olaleke Agboke, the commission said the exercise would feature both online pre-registration and physical registration nationwide.

Agboke explained that the exercise would run using the INEC Voter Enrolment Device (IVED) rotational framework for 40 days before moving fully to the commission’s offices across the 18 local government areas for the final five days.

“The third phase will continue with the INEC Voter Enrolment Device (IVED) rotation framework for the 40 days, while the last five days will be at the 18 Local Government Area INEC offices in the state.

“The public is further informed that phase III, being the final phase of the exercise, will conclude on July 10, in line with the approved timeline.

“The commission urges all eligible citizens of Ondo State, who are yet to register or those who wish to update their voter information, to participate.

“Those who also wish to transfer their details or misplaced/defaced Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity within the stipulated period.

“INEC in Ondo State, under the leadership of the REC, is poised to ensuring robust public engagement with all the activities of the commission to enhance better participation and awareness,” he said.

The commission noted that the exercise offers citizens an opportunity to get their names on the voters’ register before the curtain falls on the final phase of the CVR exercise.
