Nigerian actress Regina Daniels is facing a difficult period involving her family and marriage following the arrest and detention of her brother, Samuel Ojeogwu, also known as Sammy West.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command confirmed that he was arrested in Lagos and transferred to Abuja after he failed to honour an invitation for questioning.
Police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh said the command acted on a petition that accused Sammy West of several offences.
According to her:
“The command received a petition against Mr. Samuel Ojeogwu for alleged criminal conspiracy, criminal trespass, assault, criminal intimidation, theft, and cyber-bullying. He was invited for questioning but he refused to appear.”
She added:
“He was arrested on the authority of a duly issued warrant from a competent court, taken into custody, and charged to court on 6 November. The court has remanded him pending the fulfilment of his bail conditions.”
In a video posted on her Instagram Story, Regina Daniels expressed distress about her brother’s continued detention. She said:
“I feel like I’m going crazy. I’m losing my mind, and it’s not making any sense. I’m crying in front of everybody. What am I even begging for? I don’t know. Every day I hear he will be released, and then the story changes. What is the problem? I have tried.”
She also stated that the situation had taken a toll on her emotionally and mentally.
Regina disclosed that her parents, who had been estranged for years, reunited to support their children during the situation. She wrote:
“Two concluded sworn enemies reuniting with no negative ulterior motive other than their daughter’s happiness.”
Regina’s marriage to Senator Ned Nwoko continues to strain. She recently hinted that she had experienced domestic violence, although she did not provide detailed public accusations.
Senator Nwoko denied the allegation. He said:
“There was no domestic violence. The issue has been Regina’s wellbeing, and I advised that she sees professionals regarding concerns about substance abuse. My intention has always been to help her.”
The couple married in 2019 and have two children.
In her emotional video, Regina suggested she might return to her husband, saying:
“I will go back.”
Several celebrities including Ruth Kadiri, Angela Okorie, and Mercy Johnson have shown support for Regina. Mercy reportedly assisted the family shortly after the arrest, helping to locate Sammy West and seek information regarding his case.
